#SaveOurHomecare Thunderclap highlights the underfunding of homecare services

October 5, 2015

Care & Support Alliance member United Kingdom Homecare Association (UKHCA) have launched an e-petition to lobby the Government to allocate essential funds needed to ensure homecare services are properly funded.

Homecare services support almost a million people each year to live at home. However, homecare support is not possible unless it is properly funded. The UKHCA predicts that there will be a £750m shortfall in the year from April 2016, resulting in greater pressure on the NHS and meaning that older and disabled people may not get the help they need.

Along with the e-petition, UKHCA are holding a thunderclap on Twitter on Tuesday 6th October, with the aim to get #SaveOurHomecare trending. This is scheduled for 12:30 to coincide with Jeremey Hunt’s speech at the Conservative Party Conference.
